The Microsoft Secure Future Initiative (SFI) is a multiyear effort aimed at reshaping how Microsoft designs, builds, tests, and operates its products and services to enhance security standards. It represents the largest cybersecurity engineering project in history, with an investment equivalent to 34,000 engineers working full-time for 11 months, focusing on mitigating risks and improving security for both Microsoft and its customers.
How does Microsoft ensure a security-first culture?
Microsoft has implemented several initiatives to promote a security-first culture, including the introduction of a Security Core Priority for every employee, which is discussed during performance check-ins. Additionally, over 50,000 employees have participated in the Microsoft Security Academy, and more than 99% have completed the Security Foundations and Trust Code courses, significantly increasing awareness of cybersecurity best practices.
What progress has been made in cybersecurity measures?
Microsoft has made notable progress in its cybersecurity measures, including the implementation of phishing-resistant multi-factor authentication (MFA) for 92% of employee productivity accounts. The company has also transitioned over 88% of resources to Azure Resource Manager, ensuring that more than 99% of network assets are inventoried and adhere to enhanced security standards.
